Chemical:
Vinpocetine 5mg (Molecular formula C22H26N2O2), excipient, lactose, S.C. Description:
Vinpocetine is a new cerebral metabolic activator which can improve cerebral circulation
and enhance oxygen and glucose utilisation in the brain. Vinpocetine diminishes
or reduces disturbances due to hypoxia or to deficient cerebral metabolism. Vinpocetine
produces improvement in mental and neurological symptoms which are sequelae to
cerebral haemorrhage, cerebral infarction (particularly multi- infarct) and cerebrosclerosis.
Cerebral circulation is particularly enhanced in response to low oxygen levels
in the brain and thus increased blood flow to the brain is not accompanied by
reduced peripheral blood flow and side effects associated with that as hypertension.
Vinpocetine improves oxygen and glucose utilisation by brain cells and increases
their resistance to damage by hypoxia

Characteristics:
1. Vinpocetine improves oxygen utilisation by brain tissue and increases it's
resistance to damage during hypoxia. 2. Vinpocetine selectively increases
cerebral circulation and decreases cerebral vascular resistance. 3. With minimal
systemic effects, Vinpocetine does not alter pulse rate, blood pressure or respiration
rate. 4. With possible anti-platelet effect, Vinpocetine can reduce the possibilities
of thrombus formation in the constricted vessels. 5. Vinpocetine is well tolerated
clinically. Indication: Improvement of symptoms caused by following
diseases; Sequelae of cerebral haemorrhage, sequelae of cerebral infarction, cerebrosclerosis.
Dosage: One tablet (5mg each) 3 times a day. Precautions, Side
Effects and Contraindications: Vinpocetine is contradicted in those patients
thought to be incomplete omeostasis after cerebral haemorrhage. Vinpocetine is
contradicted in women who are or may become pregnant. 2. Side effects. Hypersensitivities;
Eruption; Nausea. If hypersensitive signs occur the drug should be discontinued
immediately. Gastrointestinal system; Anorexia, abdominal pain, diarrhoea may
be occurred rarely. Circulatory system; Erythroposopalgia, excitation may be occurred
rarely. Blood; Leukocytopenia may be occurred rarely. Liver; Parameters SGOT or
SGPT may be risen rarely. Kidney; Parameter of BUN may be risen rarely. 3. Precaution.
In animal studies reproductive toxicity such as foetus death, abortion was reported,
therefore the drug should be forbidden in women who are or may become pregnant.
In animal studies Vinpocetine can be crossed to breast milk, therefore drug should
not be forbidden in women who are lactating. Storage and shelf life:
Tight container protected from light. Store at room temperature 3 years.
Keep this and all other medicines safely out of the reach of children.
